Lewis Josselyn to Elizabeth Josselyn, undated
Monday morn 11th
I am glad I did not seal yet up my letter yesterday, for the mail I wrote about that we expected Tuesday we got last evening. I did not much expect another letter from you, by what you wrote in your last that you should not send a letter so often, although I hear from you oftener than I could expect, yet none to often. I know I had ought to be satisfied with one a week, for that is as often as most of them write. The letter I have been expecting from Sander I got last night I shall write back tomorrow; the papers you sent I got last night to. Dont you be afraid of my reenlisting, for I dont feel inclined that way if we had chance to do so which I dont believe we have. If I ever feel like enlisting again it will be when I have served out my three years, not till then. All quiet last night it is still stormy today. the/rainy season has fairly set in. the Misissippi raises evry day. I never expected to se Frank out here again when he went, but I heard there is another order out yesterday, whereby all men at home on furloughs have to join there regiments before they can get their discharge, so I am afraid he will have to come out again. but I must close up now and go to my dayly duty all the boy are as well as usual
