William Sotheron Powell
William Sotheron Powell was born on May 11, 1854, in Chesterfield, Virginia, to Royall and Sophia Powell. He eventually moved to Baltimore, Maryland, and worked in the fertilizer industry. He married Elizabeth Smith around 1877, and their son Edward was born around 1882. By 1910, he was serving as editor of the Ellicott City Times. He died in Clifton Forge, Virginia, on August 17, 1931.
