                        My Dear Sister
No doubt you are surprised at the heading of my letter. I Explain. I was sent here from Alexandria to act as Baggage Master in place of the former one who is sick. I take charge of the Knapsacks and Book and Room. I Expect to be here untill the other one gets able to do his duty I am kept buisy or I should have/Answered before this. I am glad Mother Enjoys such good health. Give her much love for me
 
            If Grandfather & Mother are in town yet remember me to them and tell them I Expect to see them soon.
            Give my kind regards to Jno Fell and tell him I would like to hear from him and Oliver.
            Ask Oliver if he remembers the little news Boy and the Stocking yet the time the supertendent was going to shoot us.
            Write soon again Ag you write very good letters and I think you are improveing in your writing verry fast. I want to put this letter in to this days mail so I close hopeing to hear from you soon
