                        Dear Friend Agnes
I suppose you think I have forgotten you but far from it the reason why I have not written to you is for the last three weeks I have quite low with the fever and have just recovered enough to leave the hospital and an other reason is I could not get a chance to have my picture taken and I was bound not to write until I could it with the letter and to day though I am very of flesh I got it taken and will try and get it out in this mail if possible it may not suit you very well but is the best I can do being so thin of flesh/

the weather is getting quite cool here here and we have nothing yet but our little summer shelter tents and they are quite cold at nights and there is very prospect of us getting any better soon so we are compelled to buy lumber and board up our tents so we can stand it I pitty the army in the field very much but do not know how soon we may be called on to endure the same fate we are now on our old ground some four or five companies of us the rest are with Mcclellen and we do not expect them to join us until this unhappy rebellion is over you will find this letter short but I am in a hurry to send it in the present mail give my love Maggie when you see her and tell her I am still alive my love to your mother and brother and Aunt from your true friend

please except my love            F C Miller
