to my Friend Agnes
Tis with a true but heart felt joy that I find time to answer your good and interesting letter to night it is now drawing near twelve and I am on as officer of the guard to night this letter My Dear friend will not half repay you for your good interesting letter which I received from you to day but this is the last opportunity which I will have in writing to you from this place for a while as to morrow morning we are going to move down the broad potomac again where we will stop yet I do not know but/will let you know when I next write to you I guess my furlough will now come out slim but I am content with my lot if I only can do any thing towards closing up this rebellion well now agnes this short letter does not half repay you for your good long letter but on this occasion I beg an excuse hoping you will grant it

you letters cannot be to long but make them twice as long for your letters are never tedious but I tell you cannot want to see me more than I do you and have a good long sociable chat And when I do come if I am spared you can make up your mind I will steal a kiss yes I will shall I have one I now bid you adieu. your true friend, F C Miller
