                                                                                                                        Oct 4th 1863

                                                                        Dear Agnes

this beautiful sabbath morning I take the pleasure to write you another weekly letter which I hope may find you all in the enjoyment of health I as usual enjoy the blessing of health for which I am very thankful. but not as much so as I should be this sabbath morning Dear Agnes has been one of much study to me and while writing I am studying. I knelt down and prayed that I might be made a better man Oh how I feel my heart is ready to break and my eyes are filled with tears could I but meet you this morning how happy I would be but I cannot meet you. I can only look at your sweet face and think of you this is a real pleasure to me but I pray god that I may live to meet you/

there is no news of importance from the army I have not heard from my Brother yet this week has passed away very quick to me the time is passing soon we will be visited with the cold storms of winter we have had a very hard rain here but it is over and the weather is very pleasant. to day I want to tend church but it does not seem like home to me here in church but you know dear Agnes I can not always feel at home so I will be patient and trust in god that I may live to meet those whom I sincerely love and join with them in praising god Dear Agnes remember me before a throne of grace when in secret pray for me now I need the prayres of my friends I have a correspondant who says I am speicially remembered at a throne of grace now Dear Agnes I have never seen the correspondant who tells me this but I have no reason to doubt for evry letter is encouraging and they are prayrfully written but there is none valued as those written by your own hand I love to read them. this week I have greatly missed your letter but trusting it will come next I have been to church several evenings during/the week on friday we were paid off two months pay and since then part of our men have been very unsteady and some of them run through with their pay in a short time and I know their friends at home need it what a curse liquor is to very many we have two of our company in the guard house at present the captain is going to send them to the front with the regiment he says if the men cannot behave here he can send them where they will now I am glad of it for if a man acts the part of a man the captain will use then rite but if they think to impinge on his rights they are trifleing their time away well I will soon have to close as it is now nearly time for our sunday morning inspection after which I want to attend church. give my love to your mother Aunt C Dan & others

reserving the love of my whole heart for
Agnes from your true lover Frank C Miller
