I am well as usual but I am kept pretty close at present as I am now acting orderly of the company but I can afford to be kept close for a while. you know I have had a gooddeal of privilage since I have been soldiering and now as my time is fast coming to a close I will expect to be at my post and ready for any duty that I am to do there has twenty three of our company reenlisted and have went home among them was the orderly. so I will have his duties to attend to/until his return which will be the last of februwary then I will be in the shop again there has been a young friend of mine here this week he is going to work in the Navy Yard he is from near Dewart station him and I have worked together when I was yet in Wmsport I spent one day with him to get him employ and as I had a friend in the navy yard who has a gooddeal of influence I went to him and got a recommendation to the boss joiner and then introduced my friend and I think he will do well then the next thing to hunt was a boarding house which I was also lucky in for I know he has a nice place to board he is boarding at a widow ladies and she is a very nice old lady but I tell you she has a fine looking girl and evry lady speaks well of her you know I am a great fellow to hunt up nice and good boarding places and espeicially when there is a young lady about the house you see that is why I came to your house to see you and to get you if I could/

well I have said enough I did not know you when I was hunting boarding but I say of a truth I am glad that I got such a good boarding place for I felt at home and I soon learned to love, respect, and cherish a good feeling for all that were connected with your family and now I more than love some of the family you know what one. could I but spend this sabbath by your side I would be much happier than I now am. I feel sleepy and drowsy to day it is so lonesome but if I were in your company I would not be lonesome, but I must content my self as well as I can hoping to meet her whom I love some future day there is no news of importance evry thing dull and quiet

I wll not write you a long letter this time my love to one and all
but to my Dear Agnes first from your
