My Dear Agnes
this beautiful sabbath morning finds me again seated to write a few lines to you this is the fourth sabbath and no answer yet are you sick or not at home or is any of the family sick. something must be the cause to prevent you from writing now I will say in this one as in the last let me hear from you if it is only three lines I am getting very anxious for I fear something unusal has taken place can it be that any one prevents your letters from reaching me or mine you if so we must resort to some means of putting a stop to such work/but I hope such is not the case the weather is beautiful here to day I am sitting in my tent and am comfortable with out any fire. last night the men of our company who have been home on furlough returned their thirty day furlough is gone and they are now here for another three long years some of them have been getting married what do you think of young men going home on furlough and getting married now I will tell you what I think as long as I would have to stay in the army I would not marey for what pleasure is it to be united and be so far from each other when I get married I want to live with my companion and enjoy the sorrows and pleasures of a married life. I am down on soldiers marying while in the army I will not continue Dear Agnes as I want to send this out in to days mail/
you will please excuse the haste in which this is written
My love to and all
but to her whom I love more
than all others this one is your
self from your true lover
