Sept 7th 1864

My Dear Agnes

this beautiful morning finds me seated to reply to your welcome letter of the 27th ult which I received last evening how long My Dear Agnes I have looked for it now as it has come I will say I am very happy to receive it and it clears all doubts I did complain of your delinquincy in not writing but as your letter states you have written to me from several different places not one of those letters have I ever received and in my which I wrote you but a few days ago I stated that I would not come to see you until you wrote to me to Williamsport but Dear agnes as your last explains all you need not write to me in answer to this as we will be on our road home by the 12th and I would not get the letter but you can look for me at the earliest possible moment after my return home when we can talk face to face. now do not think hard of me for writing to you/as in the last I would not do anything or write a single word to hurt your feeling. rest assured it will but a short time after my return until I will meet you in your own pleasant home. Agnes I am not well and will not write a very long letter I was taken very sick during the night last evening I felt very unwell but thought it would ware off but in stead I became so sick that rest was impossible it is an attack of fever but the doctor told me this morning that I was already out of danger as during the night I threw up a large amout of bile of my stomache and after that I slept soundly but I am weak to day though I have no headache and by eating a little light food and taking plenty of rest I will be Frank Miller by tomorrow. there is no news of importance from our army only that it is growing in strength very fast with in a week back not less than 15.000 thousand men have joined the army and they are comeing in very fast I think in two weeks more the army will be fully as large as when it moved last spring and more Grant is sure of success when he moves. I was out yesterday to our front/lines to visit my acquaintences for the last time as a brother Soldier one to see the immense amount of labor that has been done by our army would be greatly surprised the weather here is getting pleasant but is yet pretty warm Dear Agnes I will now close by sending my love to one and all. to your self is the sincere love of your true and affectionate lover
