            My Dear Agnes

this dreary sabbath morning I am again seated to write you the regular weekly letter. I feel much better satisfied than when I wrote you last sabbath but yet I am not as well pleased as I anticipated I would be my boarding house is none of the best as there are a larg number boarding at the house and the accommodations for sleeping are not very good but I will shift along until spring if I keep my health I have my trunk and clothes in my old tent in the camp in which I am now sitting writing to one I love. and Dear Agnes you know not how often during the week I have wished to be in your society to pass away the long evening some would say if they were in a city they could pass the/evenings away pleasantly but not so with me I cannot find any pleasure in a city to run the streets by the time night comes I am tired and want to sit down then if I had some one to talk to some one that I love I would be happy and contented. but at present I will say no more as to my being unhappy but will live in hope of seeing happier days and pleasanter evenings. on last friday evening we had about four inches of snow it is yet laying on the ground the weather was quite cold but is getting much warmer and is commencing to rain but when we have rain here it is cold enough to snow up there, and as it is now the time of year for cold weather I think it will be very cold for the weather all along has been pleasant and warm and we cannot expect such weather out of its season. when you write tell me how you got along with your buisy weeks work which was before you when I left I am anxious to hear from you as I have had no letter this week and I am lonesome/but I know you have either been very buisy or have not been well or you would have written to me. I have had one letter since I came here is all the news I have had and you can be sure I will look for a letter from you this week please do write and I will take all the pleasure in reading it I can. I know this is going to be a long winter to me here but I trust it will open up a bright spring to each of us

I will now close as there is no news of importance by sending my best wishes to the acquaintences in your place and my love to your mother Dan & Aunt C. and others

but last though not least my
love and affection to your self
            your true and affectionate love
                                    Francis C Miller
