My Dear Agnes
this sabbath morning finds your lover comfortably seated on a sofa to converse with you for a short time I arrived Safe here on wednesday night at ten. the train I got on when I left was an extra but when we got to harrisburg the conductor put on more passenger cars and run on through to baltimore I think it was the fastest ride I ever had on cars but it just pleased me you know the faster they run the harder I slept and it was all your falt for you kept me up so early. but never mind I am going to tell your mother on you/when I see you again and she will learn you better and if she does not I will. I am enjoying fine health and hope when this reaches you that all may be in the enjoyment of health since my return we have had a very hard storm of sleet and rain and it is quite cold so much so the ice is frozen all over the trees and where ever the rain touched it froze it was fun to see some of the old chaps slip and slide on the pavements but it wasent fun to see some of the young maidens take a trip to the ground oh no dident I laugh well I guess I did. and you could not have blamed me though it was not polite. but indeed I could not help it Dear Agnes I will not write you much more at present as I want to attend church and it is now near/church time. I find my boarding place a very pleasant pleasant one and think I will like it very much while sitting here writing I am listning to some of the family telling on each other telling about asking for their wifes it is fun I wonder what we will tell on me when I ask for you for I have not yet asked for you but I intend to and I am going to ask when you are not around I now close my love to one and all

shareing largely for your self

from your true and affectionate lover
