My Dear Agnes
this sabbath finds me pleasantly seated in a quiet room to answer your last welcome letter which came to hand on thursday last I need not say how much pleased I was to hear from you as you know nothing comes more welcome to me than your letters I am glad to hear that you are better of your cold but sorry to hear that you have been otherwise afflicted but I suppose by the time this reaches you you will be well I hope so. I cannot say I am well but am not sick/
we have been having very wet weather here for the last three days it rained very hard all night last night but has cleared off this morning and is getting colder out though the sun is shining very pretty there has been a gooddeal of cannonading here this week in honor of the recent successes of our army the catures of Charleston & Wilmington and in honor of Washingtons birth day I hope soon to hear of much more good news from the army & navy I suppose on next saturday there will be the largest number of people here in the city that ever was seen here as that is inaugeration day. I will give you the particulars of it in my next if nothing happens as I intend going to see him take his seat there will be no work in any of the goverment departments. your mother must be pretty well worn down having so many boarders so joe noel is as queer as ever well I think he will live and die just as grim as he is now but I think when he asked you to board him when you got to Wmsport he did it for a slur but to tell the truth I would not board him to save his neck for I donot like him I think all I will board will be connected with the family and I do not want to see you or your mother making slaves of your selves for the sake of accommodating a few boarders well dear Agnes I will not write much more as I want to write one or two more letters give my love to all reserving that portion which due your self I know it is large from your true lover F C Miller to Agnes F Voris
