Dear husband
This sabbath evening I take up my pen to awnswer your two last Dear and welcome letters I reseived the forty dollars yesterday it come very good indeed as I needed it bad enough but it come to late to buy me a glass of beer but still I did not fail to get one For I went over to Ditmers of an errend and as they keep the fourth about right I got a glass there but I will not tell you how much I drank They onely laid in two kegs of lager beer For the fourth but I had fourth enough today when the children came out of sunday school they wanted me to take them out to Randalls wich I did and Mrs Randall treated us/treated both children and I to all the ice cream we could eat and the little Folks enjoyed their selves finely loocking at the trout and seeing the trout ponds and they have a splendid swing up for their children to enjoy their selves on and what do you think they expect another heir in september and Mudges are not behind times either Mother wants me to go and stay down at the old place three or four weeks and take a good visit while you are away she says I will never have a better chance but I do not want to spare the money as we need it other places Frank I wish you could secure work for the winter out there as/I supose you have read in the papers about the strike here for ten hours at the same wages they have had to work thirteen for and it is right it should be so if they hold out out in it this systim of slavery will cease among the labouring class of people—Ferdick has adopted the ten hour rule and propose extra work for extra time he is the onely one I hope you will succeed in geting the job you spoke of but we will talk about it when you come home Mrs Mr Kerrick is on the strike but they are not behind on their rent and I find them very agreeable neighbors so far my ink has got so thick it has made a sorry blot/under my arm in shape of a large boil. I don’t know how it will go with me to wash tomorrow and I must hoe our lot over this week so you see every day brings its work for me as well as care Frank what have you decided to in reference to your land in the west or have you decided to wait awhile. I have to much to see to & I cannot find time to go over to Rocktown to see Roons and when you come you can go over to see him yourself and Ditmer will put in a good word for you but I am writing a good while and still I have more questions to ask that jus gudgement of jacksons isent the time up it was to be attended to you better write to Charlie in regard to it Albert Poust was down last Saturday and toock supper with me he bought little Charlie a two wheeled wagon Strong enough to pull him in/and harry wants to know if papa wont let me go to the hard ware store and get him one he says he never had a nice little wagon and you would laugh to see how anxious he is to have me tell you what a good boy he is he say I shall tell papa he pulls weeds for the pigs and makes em grow so awful big he has pulled about a dozen but it is the same to him as a thousand would be Mother and I are going down to Cramers to get her pension attended to so I will close for this time you asked what you should bring me bring yourself and use your gudgement/about what you bring harry
