Camp Stoneman July 26th
Dear Father
I now sit my self down to answer your kind letter wich I have just received from you and John I am glad to hear from you and that you are all well and I hope you will remain so I am well and I hope this letter will find you all the same and I hope John will have good luck and imrove his health while he is gone Father I received the two Dollars that you sent me and I was very glad to have it and I will try and make good use of it I like to have some monney some times I get me some Milk to eat and once in a while I byy some/cake I tryed to get my pay but I cannot get it untill the next payment and then I shall get four months pay Father I feel contented for I dont have eny Duty to do but I should like to get transvired to my own State if I could I thought I should try to get it done if I possible could you said prehaps Marshell could do something about it Father I would give good deal if I could have it done for your sake you may try and see if Marshell can do enything a bout it I dont think that he can I suppose that I shall have to go in the Inflaid Core if I dont get well I shant try to use my arm more then I can help Father prehaps if I have some one to Intercead for me I can get transvired to my own/State when the Surgon in Cheif examoned me I told him that I thought that I had ought to have my discharge but he said that he could not doe that for if a man was not fit for feild Duty he would have to go in the infaild Core. I would be willing to pay good deal if I could get out of it for I could have something done for my arm but if I have to stay I shall not try to get it eny better I dont think that I shall have to go to my regement again George Hutchings is here in Camp he is not very well Charles Walker as gone to the Hospital so George told me he got chafed so he could not ride we have had some rain here I was sorrow to hear that it was so dry with you and that the crops was poor/
I am glad that you have got my Box that I sent for I thought that you would not get it I dont see whare them picturs is that I sent to the girls I dont know what the Surgon name is that has charge of this camp but if I think that I can do eny thing I will write and let you know you can see if Marshell can do eny thing about it first I have not much more to write now I will write again soon and you do the same I send my love to you all good by
