Camp Stoneman D. C. July 31st /64
Dear Sister
I sit my self down to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well and I hope this letter will find you all the same and all the rest of the Folks I hope that you have had some rain with you before this time for it must be very dry it is very hot out here I should like to have the privlage of gowing to meeting with you to day I suppose John has gone out fishing before this time I hope he will have a good time and be fat when he comes home and bring home good lot of fish I shall be glad when this ware is over and when we all can go home and injoye ower homes once more we all shall know how to injoye owerselves/better then we did before we come out here Mary it dont seam much like Sunday but here to day all days is bout a like good many of the Boys went out last night George Hutchins has been here some time but he went a way last night it seams like old times to have some of the Old York Boys here I am all the one that is here now I gow down to the Potomic River most every day and go in bathing that is whare I wash my Cloths I can get Apples when I want them they are most ripe I have had m green apples stewed several times how does Uncle Joe get a long now days and how is Grandmother now days Mary when you write tell me all the news you are all the Girl that I have had eny letter from since I left home and all the one that I have writen to in/York how is Miss George Bean now days I have not witen to Uncle James since I left home but I suppose I had ought to have writen to him if yow write to him tell him I am well I wish I could get transfired to my own State I dont suppose I can very well tell Aunt Lavina I should like for her to write I want yow all to write as often as you can and I will do the same tell me all the newr news when you write and all about the folks give my love to all of them write soon
