Dear Father
I sit my self down to answer your gladly received letter wich I received last Week and I have just received one from Priscilla I was very glad to hear from you that your are all well I am the same I was glad to hear that you had some rain I hope you will have good crops and more rain I rote a letter to Uncle James Father I am injoying my self as well as I can out here I gow out most every day and get some berrys I went yeasday and got some ripe grapes and I stewed them they was very good. I was glad to have the monney that you sent me I wish I could get/payed of but I suppose I cant as long as I stay here fore if I stay here I cant get mustered for my pay I suppose I shall have to stay here some time yet I wish thaire was some way that I could get Transvired to Maine I think if I had gone to Agustia when I was at home I could got transvired thare but I suppose I had not ought to not grumble I think it was all for the best that I got Wounded for I have got my health and I am well all but my arm I don’t see eny signs of this war ending if I had stayed at home prehaps I should been Drafted and that would been worse then it was to Volinteer I hope if they Draft in York some of them will be Drafted that was so mean when I come out I was sorrow to hear the death of/Webster Simpson what was the mater with him do you ever hear from Rufus Grant you rote that he was sick I should like to hear from him if you know write and tell me how did you make it about raising monney to fill the last call for men do they hear from the Boys now days I should like to hear from them I have not writen to them for I dont know when they would git it if I should write to them I heard that ower Reg. got cut up pretty bad I dont know how true it is I did not get the paper that you sent me we dont get much rain here. Rufus Woodward Cousin is here the one that they told a bout when I was up thare his name is Chapman I suppose you hear all the war news what did Mr. Marshall say about/doing eny thing I dont think they can do eny thing to Portland about geting trasvired I dont expect to get eny thing done a bout it Father I have not much more to write at presant I will draw to a close hoping that this letter will find you all well and enjoying good health write soone
