My Dear Father
I take my pen in hand to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well and that I have joined my Reg I arived here yeasday I did not expect to leave Camp Stoneman so soon but they sent most every one from thare. I think that they intend to send every man from Camp Stoneman I suppose if I had gone to the Surgon in Chief I might got might got excused from coming but I will do the best I can. dont worry about me I found Grant and Banks well Moulton is in the Hospital sick I wish that I had got here befor so I could got payed of but I am to late/
Father I dont expect we shall stop here long we are a bout two miles and a half from the Weldon Rail Road Father I want you to sent me some more money I suppose you will think that I spent more then I nead to but it is hard to get a long without eny money the next pay day I shall have Six months pay due me I have got a horse but I cant do much duity nor I shant try to do much I think that I had rather be with the Compiny then to be in Camp Stoneman if I have any health the hotis of the weather is over I hope all the Boys was glad to see me Banks looks bout the same as he did when he left home Grant is the same as ever but he makes rather a poor Soldier so some of the Boys told me/
I have not much to write to day dont worry a bout me I will do the best I can and keep out all the danger I can I will write a gain in a day or two I shall look for a letter soon for they will send them to me that you send to Camp Stoneman if thair is eny comes for me. Father I will draw to a close hoping that this letter will find you all well ano write soon good by
