My Dear Father
I sit my self down to answer your gladly received letter which I received this morning it was the letter that you sent to Camp Stoneman I was very glad to find some Money in it. all the Boys has been payed of I did not get here in time to get my pay I have been Musterd since I come here for the next pay day. your letter found me well I was sorrow to hear that Grandmother was sick. I hope that she will get better. Father I suppose you will think f more about me now then you did when I was in Camp Stoneman I dont want you to worry a bout me more then you can posible help I dont think I shall be in eny feight very soon/
I shant take eny Carbine nor they cant make me I dont think I could stand it to march all day I feel better contented out here with the Boys then I did when I was in Camp Stoneman they sent some from thire that was worse of then I was. Charles Walker is on the way to his Reg. I suppose he will be here in a day or tow we are in Camp a bout Seven miles from Petersburg some of the men out here thinks that the war will close this winter I hope it will. Charles Grant saw William Hooper h while a go but did not have time to say much to him. the hotis of the weather is most over and I am glad we have cool nights now you wanted to know if I got enough to eat I do we draw Frish Beaf Pork Hard Bread Coffie Sugar. things/are very high deep out here Cheese is 50 ct per pound and butter .75ct lb. I dont expect we shall stope here long Father I shall keep back as long as I can I can not use my arm eny better then I could when I left home and I dont think I shall try to very soon I have been in the army long enough to look out fore my slfe and I know what it is to be in a feight and I will keep out of it as long as I can. I cant think of much more to write to day so I will close hoping that this letter will find you all well I want you all to write as often as you can
