            Dear Sister
                                    I sit my self down this afternoon to answer your kind letter which I received last night and I had one from John I had been looking for a letter from some of you for most a week and I got almost out of Patience it is very Stormy here to day and cold it rained this morning and this after noon it Snows and blows. we dont have any Snow here that stays on the ground but a short time it is very mudy almost over Boots. I am sitting by a good warm fire and I am/comfortable and in good health Albert Moulton is in Dismounted Camp near by whare I am he comes in my tent very often it seams some like home to have him with me I cant help thinking of Tom Richmond Ramsdell and Albert Walker and I feel Thankfull for being in such good quarters as I am in. I long to get my Boots that I sent for for I have no light ones to ware Mary I was surprised to hear that Uncle James had got married I suppose ower good times with him is over is it the one that was keeping house for him when I was at home if it is he has got a snug wife I tell you for I seed a nough/to know that when I and John was up thare Mary how does Uncle Joe and Hannah get a long now days. John wrote that he was over to the Navy Yard to work I hope he will let Strong Drink alone. when a nother year roles around I hope we shall be togeather and this Crual war will be over I dont think it can hould out much longer I think the Rebals will have to curb befor a nother winter Tropes are coming in very fast. Mary if Father has not got my Box ready I would like to have it as soon as I can get it on the account of my Boots tell Father I have no thoughts of gowing back to my Regiment I will write to Father in a day or two tell/John I will answer his soon I am looking for a letter from Aunt Viny when you write tell me all the news send me a NewsPaper I must close hoping this will find you all well and injoying good health excuse my scrabling write soon give my love to all good by
