                                                                                 Petersburg Va.
                                                                                  June 10th 1865
 
                        Dear Father
                                                            I take my pen in hand to informe you that I am well and in good health and that I expect to start for home next week that is the talk now I thought I should not write againe but Charles Banks got a letter from his Sister and she wrote that you was very worred about me and did not know whare I was I dont see how that can be I have written two letters to you since I came to the Regiment and I have only got one from you/
 
if nothing happens we shall be musterted out next week all the Dismounted men in the Regiment are gowing to be Discharged I and George Hutchins are all the ones of the York Boys that goes now.
I will draw to a close hopping this will find you all well I think by the time you get this letter I shall be on my way home.
