Dear Father
I sit down to answer your kind letter I received one this morning and my Socks I got one yesterday morning form Priscilla and Lizzie I am very much pleased to get the Socks I hope Maj Rollins will succeed in getting me transverd North I went and seed the Doctor the other morning he looked at my arm and Back he said that he did not know as they would have me in the Invlid Corps and if that is tha so I shall stand a sight to get my Discharge he said that he could not do any thing for me at presant for the Regiment is moving now/
I will not say any thing to him againe untill I heare from Maj Rollins. we had quite a cold storm last week it snowed a little and rained an and it froze a little it is pleasant to day. I saw one of the Boys that belongs to my Co. last week he was down here and stoped with me all one night he told me about the luck of the Boys that was taken Prisoners the time that I was Six of us was taken out of my Co. and I am the onley one that is alive now of the six. when we was taken any one would suppose that I would be the one that would not live. but by the help of Perivence Providence I am a still a live, and I feel Thankfull for it. I hope I shall find out before long a bout getting/North for I want to send for a Box and I should like to have a paire of Boots from home if Maj Rollins cant do any thing I believe I shall try and get a fourlough I think if I could get one that I should not have to come back here I have not much to write this time Priscilla I have writen that letter sent it this morning I will draw to a close hoping that this letter will find you all well as it has left me write as often as you can for I like to heare from home good by
