Head Quarters Armies of
The Confederate States
Richmond 4 March 1864
My Dear General,
Your two communications reached me by the same mail, but the case was so extraordinary and involves so much calculated to destroy the integrity of the Service, that I determined to use the information.
Orders have been given to the president of this court evidently a tool in [?] against you, that will most probably secure you from further delay and annoyance. The irregularities already committed cannot be commented on, until the official proceedings are received. They will not then escape attention
This matter has been carried so far, that self defense may require you to attack and I can assure you the evidence in my possession is ample to convict of Disobedience of Orders, neglect of duty, and want of cordial co-operation and support, which resulted in all the disasters after Chicamauga. This matter is worthy of your consideration. Genl Law, has seen me on the subject, so far as his command is concerned Genl Benning I hear is equally sore, and under the Ban of authority, because he prefers his country to a faction
Wishing you every success & happiness
I am respectfully yours
Braxton Bragg
