Dear Lena                               Block 12
I have been expecting a letter from you for several days, and am afraid my last must have miscarried. In my last I mentioned the fact that all Express matter is for the present prohibited, & if you have not already sent the articles named in one of my former letters, do not for the present, notwithstanding my great need of clothes, I will be compelled to do without as best I can. I am in excellent health weighing 147 lbs, being more than I ever weighed in my life before. The sutlers store is closed by an order from head quarters, consequently our daily bill of fare is necessarily rough and meager, but I am not disposed to grumble and while my health is spared I can endure with patience I have learned nothing farther in regard to my petition I, in common with others are waiting for further developments and unless our friends of influence at home, do something in our behalf, the time of our release is very uncertain. Has Uncle Leven had an interview with Spud & P[?]tle, and what is the result? I wrote to father, & Margaret, some time ago, but fear they have not received my letters, as I have not yet received an answer from either. A. Graham has just received a letter from home, stating that the Blunk family were burned up, but giving no particulars, send me the account in your next. Kiss Magga & Charley for me Yours Jno McLauchlan
