                        Dear Brother & sister
                                    I received your kind letter of Nov 3 & was happy to hear that all was well for that is rather important in this life I have had a round of the typhoid fever since I last wrote to you but am on the gain now our reg left here tuesday/ morning & I was flat on back & the prospect is they will have a fight before they get back the 21 Ill is with them & last night they sent back for the 38 Ill & they leave to day at ten O clock they will probaly go to the southern line of Mo which is about eighty miles distant there they expect to meet Jeff Thomson with his forces he is the one we scooped out at Fredricks Town but we cannot tell mutch about what we hear there is nothing certen here but death & he/ is sure for some find him evry day but we havent lost but one man by sickness in our reg & to more by acident  I got a letter from Hannah last night & one from Alfred A tell antinett that Fred is of on march I give her my best respects I should like to see that girl you brage on so mutch it must be a screamer
 
I shall have to stop for I have got four letters to answer
