Culpepper December 12th 1863
Dear Wife
I received your kind letter last evening. it found me well and in the same Camp that we came in to when we came from the Rappahan River. the talk now is that we will go in to winter Quarters here one Brigade has all redy built up winter quarters. they say we ar a going to have large Sybler Tents, so that sixteen will be in a Tent. we ar in the 2nd Corps, Bufords Division. well to Day finds our Reg on Picket. it Rains a little but I guess it will not Rain much. we/ have six relieves so we do not have to stand but four hours out of twenty four. Your Letter was mailed at Almira I do not see in to it attall how it should be put in to the Office there. pleas tell me next time how it come to be put in at Almira. I have put in 2 dollars for you to buy the gloves I sent to you for the other day. if you have not got them yet pleas get them right a way for I nead them vary much. I want two sawing alls one small and one large one, and two peging Alls, and and a small harnes needle. you can send them in your next letter. but Dear/ Sarah do not forget to send the gloves right a way. well well well I guess Ma has concluded not to write any more to me but I can stand it if she can. I have wrote two or three times about my Stears but I can not hear any thing about them. Sis pleas tell me how much of the money you let Hop have. I shall send you some money in a few days, when you write let me know how much you have got I guess you will think I feal rather cross grained to day but Sis I do not feal that way attall. but I am anxcious to know about the money you got for the Stears/ and then my fingers ar a little cold, but I guess when Sis send the long risted gloves to hur Old Man the cold wether will not affect my claws much do you. Charly thinks his folks has got his things redy to send and so I thought it best for you to get mine ready so when we think it best to have it sent it can be post and sent with out any delay. the needles I sent to you wer so small I reccond you could use them they wer to small for me. I forgot to tell you I got the thread you sent me in a paper I am vary much oblijed to you for them. I will not write any more untill I get in from Picket then I will write some more. so good by for to day
