Dear Mother
                        I received your kind letter of the sixth this mornning other altho it was delayed nealy two weaks on the road, it was just as welcom as if it had come direct. I was glad to know that you and Father ar well as useual and prospering. I am sorry Edwin is so distant. he has not wrote to me in a long time but if any one does not wish to write to me I will not have to ans them. I have wrote two or three to him but no ans. I am vary sorry he is so distant. I hear that he is drafted but I think his health is not good enough. just as soon as/ he comes to lay on the ground he will be down sick with the asthma, but for some reason I never have got any cold a laying on the ground. I have lay on the ground when water reun under me and when the ground was wet and all kind of wayes but by the grace of God I have been speared so far and I pray that I may ever be found on the lords side doing my duty and be allowed to return home in due time. Ma how does prospects for the war cloasing pleas tell me what you think about it. Ma how does the stock look this summar. I wish Father would train my Stears so they will be handy if he will brake them he may youse them all he thinks it will/ do for young cattle when they ar broak. and by next spring they can drag a gooddeal. but if he does not wish to yous them I will pay him for breaking them. you have not told me yet whether you will take my sheep for the next year to come. pleas let me know as soon as you can I am glad Cousen Danel has been out to make a viset. if I new theyr post office addres I would write. but I must end for this time give my love to Father and all of our folks and keep a good shair of it to your self, and remember me as your Son
