Dear Mother
I received your most welcom in due time. it found me well and still in Washington, but how long we shall stay here we do not know we may go in 10 hours or in 5 we cannot tell how soon. we cannot expect to stay in one place long at a time this summar for the armes ar on a general move this summar you know. you at home know three times as much about what is going on at the seat of war than we do that ar here. we do not hear but vary little nuse here. the foll of Vixburge or surrender was received with grate chearing and joy, but when the nuse comes that pease is declaired then we shall feal much more joyful do not you think so Dear Mother/
you say perhaps I am tired of writeing to you but Dear Mother I have not by no means. the mail has been so irregular of late that I have been with out for two weaks at a time, but I shall write often as I can. the letter you rote me next to the last was two weaks a coming. but Dear Mother lets be more punctual about writeing we have been vary slack allong back about coresponding with each other and it seams more like home to get letters often. I porsume you ar having nice times apicking buries this summar. you must eat thre quorts a weak for me. there is in the market now Tomatoes, Cucumbers, new potatoes cabbage, and all kinds of vegitables it makes ones mout water to look at them and cannot have a taste, is it not a shame. but I must close for this time. give my love to Father tell him to write I have looked for his and your likeness. pleas send them to me I would like them vary much give my love to all at home and believe me your Son
