Kind Mother
I received your letter of the 25th it found me well as useual. I am vary sawry you ar fealling so hard toards me about what what few to words that has been exchanged between Sarah and me, not meaning any harm attall. She mearly sayed that you was offnded when she went to get and cairry my letters to and from the Office. I do not now recollect what I did write but what ever I sayed I did not mean any harm nor curse you nor Father attall. but I will tell/ you just what I think. I thought as long as Father and you had so much to do and it would be asking more of you than was right to cairry hur down to get t my letters, and thought as long as my Wife likes to walk and gets lone som without me, there would be no harm in hur going down and right back after the male letters and see hur folks when she wished to. Ma you know she and I ar of age and had ought to go when it is propper and when we wish to at least. but I hope you will not think I mean to allude or mean any harm in what I say. Ma you know me of Old what I think about going when we choose/ without asking to go, or telling we wer going. if I have offnded you I have not don it meanningly. I am vary thankful for what you and Father have don for hur and me. I hope I shall have the pleasure some day of rewarding you both for the kind nesses you both have shown towards us both. I wrote to Joel as he told you, and I thought it would be best for me to come home if I could on account of the land and see you all once more. I hope you will over look all I have sayed, and remember me as your Son. give my love to all. this is from your boy in the army Albert
