Camp near Ceder Mountain
Dear Sarah
As I am fealling quite lonesom this evenning I thought I would write a fiew lines to my Sarah. our Reg have just started away on a scout but whear I do not know. but one thing I do know and that is I was not detailed to go was I not lucky. it is the first time I have escaped going out on a scout when the Reg has gone since we have been Cavalry. our Brigade hav all gone. that is a detail of so many out of each Reg. there are five Reg in a Brigade/
I hurd that some of the Infantry have gone to I guess they ar a going to be gone two or three days. they have taken three days forage and three days rations for them selves. forage is rations of Oats for the horses and rations is can food for the men.
we ar having nice wether I tell you. Mrs Low will tell you all a bout how it looks here when she gets home. I have been up about a half mile to day to and had my likenes taken for you. I had it taken standing and sitting. you can tell me which you like the best. I will send one this time and one next time. I have all so put in/ two dollars in tenn cent pieces. you can cut them a part with your sisors.
I can not think of any thing interesting to noght so I will wait untill next time I have not had a letter in a weak from you, so I will end for this time so good by ans soon. my love to you and Luie
