Dear Farther
I take my pen in hand to write to you to let you know how I get a long I am well and hope you are enjoing the same blesing I have joind the armey since last I wrote to you we are now trying to clear out the State of Mo whare ever we have been we have suckseeded first rate the Seshonest have left whenever we came in to heir neighborhood I belong to the Ilinois 24erth Regiment comanded by Col Hecker the reason I joind the armey was that I thought that the united States needed the servieses of every man that was free to go whare he pleased there is one thing that I want you to send to/ Me If you posibly can that is a colt revolver one of his largest ones we cannot get them her and they are very nessery fo we have to fight cavelry most all to gether for when they charge on us we fire our rifles at them and befre we can load a gain they are right a mongest us so a revolver saves a mans life a great many times I have not got any money from goverment yet and it is reported that we will not get any so very soo if I live to come home I will pay you for that revolver if I should not you will recive money from goverment du to me that will pay you send it as armey suplies tell All the folks to write to me And believe me as ever
