Dear Brother
I take this opertunity to write to you it is nine o clock at night we have just received marching orders we marched ten miles day befre yesterday and crosed green river and camped. our men went to the enomy line pickets to day with a flag of truse and they fird upon us they also atacted our pickets to day and wonded six men we have to march 18teen miles to morroow and atack the enomy if they are there as it is reported so I expect that I shall see some hot work before you hear from mee again if we have a fight I will write to you as son as posible if I am all wright if not you will hear of it any weigh write soon give my respects to all my friends tell Helen and ann to write so good by for this time from your Brother
