Nashvill Tenn June 26th 1863
Brother Ira
I recived your lettor containing your picture and those of your friends it is a fine picture you look as young as you did the last time I saw you it is a wonder to me that you have not been taken a prisener by some of those new England girls before now but Lawyears are generaly prety hard cases and I surpose that you are not an exception Mr Weeks is still at the front I do not know how long he in tends to stay there if I see him when he gits ready to go back I shall send a lettor with him he seemes to be a fine man our troops are advancing in earnest now I believe there has been conciderable fighting at the front to day there is nothing of interest here at present onley the hanging of a spy once in a while or the shooting of a derserter ackasionly the rebs have had posesion of the railroad between here and the front part of the time to day so that we are a litle in the dark about what they are doing/ at the front I hope that every thing will go right at vixburg if it does I think that the rebils will find them selvs on their last legs prety soon I should think by the acount Marietta gives of how the people of claremont celebrated the fall of richmond that would not want to celebrate another victory very soon till they were shure it was so I have seen a man that looks just like that fellow Mr Morgan that you sent me a picture of but I am in somthing of a hury to day so I will not write any more Mr Weeks told me there was a young lady by the name of Weeber living in Claremont now is that so Give my respects to all inquireing friends write soon from your
