Beaufort SC Feburary 23rd 1864
Dear Sister,
I now take the plaisure to inform you that I have been into a Engagement and have recd a very bad wound in the arm it has broke the Bone I arrived here at Beaufort this Morning I have a good place here and so you need not wory about me. the Fight took place about 12 miles this side of Lake City our men got Repulsed thier and they had to retreat back to Jacksonville the place the Expedition landed we lost two pices out of our Battery had ten or twelve killed and wounded well Dear sister I will write to you in a few days and let you know the full Particulars. when you write please Direct your letters to General Hopsital No 2 Beaufort S.C. dont post on the Company nor Regt when you write well dear Sister I will close good By from your Affectionate Brother
