                        Dear Sister
                                    as I hav nothen to Bisey my self at Present I thot I wold Pen A few lines to you we ar well at Present what thare is of us that is but four of us that came from Lottsville Out of about fiftene we as having A nise time now not mutch to do I think we will bee home to spend the fourth of July I whoold like to spend the next fourth at home I hav spent the to last in the armey one we was fighting at getersburg and the other at Peaters Burg/
 
The cry has allways been that the war wold end next fourth but I never thot so till now and now I think it will end before it coms around aget it is sary news to heer that Abe is Ded it is A big loss for us but I think Jonson will do as well I think he will be harder on the rebs than Abe wold he cant bee eny to hard on them to to sute mee I hav not had bot one Letter since I lef left winter quarters and that I had [?] to had befor I left winter quarters I got A letter from Dock Abbott just befor I left winter quarters and did not ancer it till the other day I rote to Dode the other day and to Line the same day/
 
we got A paper to day and it says that Jonson has surrendered if that is so the thing is about don I hope it may bee so thare has been lives anof lost the rebs that has got thare Parole that was under Lee thay hav been taren thur the ralerode up for us I think thay will sufer them that gets catched if I got aholt of them I wold snatched them Ball heded it is nise welcher down heer at Present and got A nise Plase for A camp to so you see we isnt cant help having A nise time well Jane that is all that I cant can think of this so right soon     From your
