                                                                        Camp Near Fredricksburg Mar 20th/63
 
Dear and ever belovid wife I sit down once more to rite you afew lines to let you know that I am well at presant and hope that theas few lines will find you all the same I am siting in our litel cloth house riting and it is snowing A litel moar to day but our snow dos not last long thare is all ciendes of spring bierdes hear and it dont seam as if we had aney winter we had the worste wether when George was hear but that did not last but A few days Marey I rite as often as I can an it seams as you ought to have one or tow letars a weak that woman that I toalde you about that was with Gibson was A soilgers wife that came down hear to see her husband that was sick in the hospital John is geting betar and it is doute of his geting his discharge at presant he has given up all hopes and will have to comence/ to do dutey if he ceepes on gainig the next day after we got back from picket our caverly had A fight with the rebals and drove them across the river an foulowed them with one batery intow thare campes and toack som 40 or 50 prisenors and killed A good maney more the sumar campain will son be comenst again and thare will be som harde fiting but I think it wont last longe if thay bringe aboute 6 hundard thousand drafted men dow hear for fighting Jo will give the rebals fites and he takes betar care of his men than ever Burnsides did ceep up good corege and if it is God will I will soon be home once more no more at presant give my love to all that enquire and as mutch as this letar will hold for your self
