Ford June 12the 1863
Dear wife I take
the plesure of writing to you Again to let you know that I am well at presant and hope that this will find you enjoying the same blessing I received yours of the 7 and was glad to hear from you but the paper I did not get it takes our mail one day longar to go through now than it did before I received A lettar from James Re this morning and was glad to hear that he had got home for it must be A grate comfort/ to himself and famley to be A free man once more I will try and answer his to day so as to send it out with the mail tow night we have bin on picket for over A weak and we have to be up about every other night our camp is not over 1/2 mile from the ford and when we lay in camp wee have got to be radey at A minet warning I have got all most tierd out but wee expect to get relieved before long or elce schadadal back and whitch I donte know I was on picket yestarday and expect to go on to/ night we have to go on the bankes of the river and the rebals are on the other side som times we take off our hats and wave them at them and thay return the compliment Dear Marey I wish that you would have your likness taken again and have it tacon smaller than it was before so that I can carey it in my pocket book for the one that you sent me is spoild when you wright tell me all the news for thare is no one elce that writes often anoff to let me know what is going on I did not expect to hear sutch news about the Camden girls I thought that thare/ was anoff of wimen thare without the girls taking up that traid but thay must be all for the union John is well at presant and Frank Secor is well thare is not mutch to write this time so no more at presant my love to you all and belive me ever your loving husband untill death
