Dear wife I take this oppertunity to write A few lines to let you know that I am well my eyes is pritey mutch well but rather weak yet I hope this will find you all well I starte this afternoon for washington and probley from thare to the Regment so you nead not look for aney more letars hear it may be one or tow weeks before I join the Regm but cant tell we will have to wait untill thare is A lot going to thare Regments when you write direct your/ letars to the oald 146 Regm I expected A letar from you last night but was disapointed but thare is A mail comes at 12 oclock and I hope that will bring one if it dont it is hard teling when I will hear from you I got Hanahs letar last Saturday and A few lines from John thay wear near Warington but whare thay are now I cant tell thare is not mutch to write this time I will bring this to A close I send my love to you all but would rather com with it from your ever loving husband

I have waited but no lettar for me so I shall wait paishont untill the mail comes to me the ward master sayes that he will forward aney letars to the Regment so that I nead not expect aney more lettars untill I get thare I feal as if I could not stope writing to you but thare is nothing to write but I hope that the blessing of God will rest upon you O Mary I nevar felt the nead of religon as mutch as I now do and my prayer is that christ will give me more I will close this by biding you A good afternoon and one old fashioned smack on the other side/
