Dear wife it is with plesure that I improve theas few moments to let you know that I am well at presant and hope that theas few lines will find you all enjoying the same blessing I received your kind lettar of the 1st and was very glad to hear from you but that whipping you spoake off would be a hard gole I would like to bee at home and see if I could not handel about 190 pounds and if you do not weigh more than that thare would bee no yuse of talking for I am/ about that heaft my self this is satturday and I expect to go out on the railroad gard an I wanted to write you before going out for I will have to be out tow days thare is not mutch news at presant thare is desarters coming in our lines moste every day thare was about 100 came in the other day and went by hear on the cares you spoke very encorigen about the war closing in the spring but wee have heard that ary so often that we cant harly believe it but I realey hope it is so one thing sertin the rebals ar hard up I have got to get radey for revue at one A clock and I will have to give/ you A short lettar John is well an can eat his alowance with the reste of ous if I get back in time I will write A few lines more but if I hav to go out on railroad I wont have mutch time I doant begrudge Joe Young of his happiness I would like to be at home to see unc David Remore so no more at presant give my best respects to all that enquire and my love to you write soon

Dear Mary I have waited but thare has not bin aney revue nor [ink blots] to go on railroad gard this time thare was geting A lot of rebal prisenors tacon by [?] to day and som of them looked rather hard thare has bin considorbel canonading not far from hear but what for we have not learned John got A lettar from George the other day it was writen for ous boath he sayes that he [paper fold] he ceeapes watch of his daly paper he mite as well watch som oald elementry speling book as his paper to know how we get along so no more for this time
