it is with plesure that I emprove theas few moments to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well at presant and hope this will find you all the same we have had orders to be raidey to move at a moments notis thare is part of the armey on motion the 2th and 3th and part of 6th corps have advanced with what suckcess I doant know nor what thay advanced for but I expect to see how stronge the eneomy is and I do hope thay wonte want ous for thare is some very nesty wether to come hear yet if we have wether as/ we genareley do have in this parte of the country since we have moved down to the railroad we have had meatings evry night of some kind or other an Sundays twice I have bin this foarnoon and expect to go again to night Oh Mary I went to meting the other night and to my surprise Mearite Rice was the preatcher he was hear with the sanurtary comision sosiety on a viset it was all acidential of my seeing him for he did not know as thare was aney one from that part hear he preatches in Boonvil Oh Mary how I wished that I was thare to go to meating with you and have a good eavning chat with you I realy hope and pray that the time soon soon/ will come when we can I have not had aney lettar frome you since I roate before I sent George W Cook allotment to you in my last and if his brother wont pay it or sign it for you let me know so that I can send you some money for I know that you nead it by this time for some reason or other I do not get my alltment for the laste tow or three times John Swanson is well as usial it is geting late and I will have to bringe this to aclose I have bin to meating again this eavning so Good Night for this time write often and believe now and ever your loving husband James Swanson/
 
Good Morning Dear Mary it is monday morning and I am well and thare is no orders to move yet and I hope that we wonte get aney but we cant tell for thay come very sudan some times I will send you tow dolars in this to pay your poastage with and to ceep me in stampe and if that Samal Cook does not get that money on the alotment for you let me know and I will send the money no more at presant
