Dear wife it is with plesure that I sit down this morning to answer your kind lettar of the 6th and was very glad to hear from you I am well at presant and hope theas few lines will find you all the same I received that oald lettar day befor yestarday it had bin on the road all that time you spoake of my sticken up for my rites that would be mear foley for a private or soildier can not get thare rites in this regment for the offisers ar al clubed together and we have not got aney/ Brigadier Genarl our cornel is actin brigadier and the best thing that I can do is to let them have thare way but if the boyes live to come home with them thare will be a setalment with them we have good meatins hear now from what is caled the christen comision we have meatins every night and Sundays twice thay ar minesturs that volentir thare survis for 6 or 8 weeks and come and repoart to the presadent of the comision and ar sent to diferant brigades thare is an oald prisbitearen hear with ous at presant John Swanson is well at presant thare is not mutch to rite this time it is raining hear/ to day and it is quite mudey hear at presant it is rumerd that we will stay hear this sumer but I fear that wont be so for thay allways have had the 5th corps up to the frount but I hope thay will let ous stay hear this sumer tell Saley if thay go up to John Mothers she wont be apt to hear from me very oftan if she dos not write oftaner than she has lately for I have come to the conclusion not to write to thoes that doant write to me you spoke of one Joseph Willison enlisten what Willison is that I dont know him by name Mary if I was thare I could tell you more in one hour/ than I can write in a week and I sincearly hope that time will soon come Mary dont be afraid of writing to oftan or to long lettars for I have got so that I can read lettars frome every night if I could onley get it to read I will bring this to a close so as to send it by the mail I send my love to you all and believe me as your true an loving
