                                                                                    Long Island Jany 7th
 
Dear Father
                        I want you to write me as soon as you get this and let me know how you are geting along. We do not know how soon we will leave here. I like it here as well as I expected so far. I have been up and signed for 325.00 bounty I wrote to Aunt Allen to day my socks I left at home but it is all right for I can get a plenty here. Give this $10.00 to Fred if you want any of my money/ take for I want you to have things for comfort I do not think I can come home before I go away I am vary well contented here all the work to be done since I have been here is to lug a few sticks of wood I have got my uniform I will send my close as soon as I can write as soon as you get this and let me know if you get this
