Capt.,
Your Suggestions strike me with some force and I will give the matter consideration

If you need the services of those men you may retain them. if not, send them down.

We cannot keep them in our command unless they will obey our orders.

I would rather they would be in the Yankee Army. I have done all for them I can and taken the responsibility of keeping them here for duty and if they wont do what I wish them I will extend no more favors to them.

I simply wanted the dis-mounted men to come here to be placed in Capt Holtzclaws Company.

You will transfer all who are dis-mounted to that Company at once, if you have no immediate use for them. What have you done with Darnold? if he is able to be moved send him down at once as I believe there will be an effort made to rescue him as soon as he is able to go back into the woods. I will send your/ ammunition, (200) two Hundred rounds. See that your men take care of it and only expend it when absolutely necessary. I will see the QM about the Iron & Shoes. I will also see him about the paper, he has none on hand now.

As to the Bleck House you can do as you think proper the only objection being it is too much trouble to feed & forage you so high up.

If you need any of the postmen as scouts or for any Special purpose keep them.

Send me a list of the men you send to Holtzclaw

                                                                        Yours &c
