                                                                                    Camp of the 1211th  feb 28th 1865
 
Dear Arminda i thought i would rite yu a few lines to day again as i was not on aney duty to day i am well & hope you are the same wee halve just had a diner of Apel dumplins as good ones as i ever eat frederick runcls made them & march youngs & myself Cooked them last night wee had weat pan Cakes wee buy flower readdy prpared all wee halve to do is to mix it with Cold water & it is ready for use yetterday was a summers day & to day it rains it has not frose aney nights for a week day before yesterday i heard the peepers hollow wee halve good Cof Comfortabel quarters now but how long wee will stay i do not know/
 
To day wee was mustered for two months pay more thay think wee will get in som time in march if wee ar laying still wee will get it & if wee are on the move i dont believe wee will get aney more pay untill our time is out yesterday morning thare cam 23 rebs in in our lines in our brigade & last sunday 7 & to the right of us in the 6th Corps  they comes in more than thare dose whare wee lay they say thare is housands that would come if they could get away Sherman has got Charlston &  willmingto & various other plases & now all they halve left is petersburg & richmond & now the rebs will ether give up or make one more desperit effort the last death strugel it will be the bigsest fight of the war/
 
the peaple at richmond is for peace bu the laders is not such as Jeff davis well if they will not give up why wee will halve to fight them again—i sent you $40 dollars & no now i will send you the receipt so if the money dose not come you will halv it to show writ & tell me how Peter A L quick mad out with Cole ranunken in his lawsuite if James Spencer moves away you had better let him pay you i ow him a litel but not much he knows how wee stand you can let him take out what i ow him i dont think of aney thing more write & tell me what is aging on

I will give you a list of
what i want you to send me
1 pare of boots
my soldiers pants
my woollon vest
& my black hat that i sent home
them galesses[?] on my black pants
you may put in 2 neck hakerchiefs
put in that little wheat stone
& a Coupel of them old files
1 botel of tobias’s linement
& fill a linemen bottel of sweet oil
out of that big bottel in the Corner
Cubeart & Cork it well to oil my
gun for the sutler bringes big for
hear]    & 1 package of invalops
25 sheets of note paper
a little woolen yarn & darn needel
some black thread
some butter & some saussouge
som Crulers & some other Cake
such as you think best to send
 
the buter you may put in
a tin pail & then the pail
will do to cook potatos in
if the pockets in them is not
good fix them first rate
the vest line the back with
sonthing on the in side so it w
it will be warm for i halve not
had aney vest sence I halve been
hear nothing but a thin blouse
& no linen in it at that but
wee will get a dress coat soon
get a tin pail that will hold
4 quarts you need not fill it ful
of butter put something els in
greese the too boots well whet
them first & then but in a little
tallow or lard yes & that
box of water proof blackning
that’s in the secertary & one of them
other boxes of blackning for we
halve to halve our boots blackt
on dresss pereade you may put
in such other notions as you think best
