Jacob Widaman to Unknown, 3 March 1890
Petersburg Neb. March 3, 1890
Sir In replying to your letter regarding Rodney McCave case. In October 1861 we were encamped South of Georgetown Mo. The cause of the disability of the clamiant is alleged to be due to drinking water from a spring situated on a hill east of our camp. This water was lead down the hill through a drain The claimant amongst many others was taken sick very suddenly and the doctors alleged that the water was poisioned The drain was dug up and it was claimed that poision was found in this drain done up in rags and papers From that time we were forbidden to use any of the water. The claimant was in the hospital and under the doctors treatment off and on for sometime and finanally was discharged on account of his disability at Allenhall Mo
This is about all I can recall to mind at this time
Yours
Capt Jacob Widaman
