Williamson Plant to Sarah J. Plant, 10 August 1852
Pocahontas Tuesday Eve
Aug 10th 1852.
Miss Sarah
I hope you will pardon me for taking the liberty of addressing you this note. Circumstances have however made it almost a duty. we have been partially acquainted for several years, to me that slight acquaintance has been one of interest.
The circumstances with which I am surrounded admonish one to speak plainly; and trusting that you somewhat appreciate the delicate situation in which I would have been placed in risking on our acquaintance a personal interview, I am led to believe your generous forbearance will be brought into requisition. If you are disengaged the object of the letter is to ask the pleaure of cultivating a further acquaintance with you. Hopeing by your consent to have the privilege of so doing at an early day, & with an abiding confidence that you will deliberately consider this matter, giveing me an early reply, I beg leave to subscribe myself as
Truly your friend
Miss Sarah J W Williamson Plant
