With pleshure this morning, I set my self to answer your sweet little letter, which I re’c’d yesterday evening. And I am hapy to say it found me well, Also Mary & the Boy. He, (the Boy) says tel Uncle James I will come to see him soon, And tel grand Ma! hody. And sent Faney & Aunt Rebecker hody for me. he, sayes he is very sorey for Aunt Rebecker, because her finger is so bad.
I got my trunks all safe & sound. Tel John he must rite to me, and let me know how he is a gitting along. Jimey, Mary turned over my ink stand last Sunday and spilt all my ink, so you must do the / Best you can with this badly riten Episel. give my love to all. I kissed Jack twenty times for you. I am at work for 1.25 per day, (one dollar & twenty five cts) and it is very hard times here. If you can find me a job, or git some one to find me a job, I will come to Columbus, and live always. I am a going to leave Montgomery any how. kiss our old Mamey for me & tel her I always love her.
