Dear Mother I again take the oportunity of writeing you a few lines to let you know that I am in good helth and hope those few lines may find you the same I have Nothing of any importanc to write you at this time I received your letter some time ago but has not had the time to anseer it till now we was on the march when I got it we have bin in camp about two weeks but had to stay on pickett three days and has bin very buisey fixing camp / ever sence and this morning we got orders to cook three days rashens and get ready to march we will start in the morning but I have no I da whare we will go or which way we will start I dont think that it is any thing more than a scout or some thing of that kind all is quite out hear and ther is no prospects of any more fighting this season I hope that we will not come back to this camp any for it is a very wet and low wet slopey place and very bad water I would write more but it is late and I shall have to hury to get this off this eavening you sed in your letter for me to say / whether for you to keep my child or not I say for you to keep him let the wourld go as it may keep him till I come home and I will put him whare he will be quareled a bout you need not quit writeing be caus I dont write no oftiner than I do for I dont have the chance of writeing as oftin as I want to I think that I am as good as I ever was if I have bin away from home nearly three year
 
if I have don any thing to hurt any of your feelings I would be glad to know what it is you need not quit writeing unless you want to if you do you can do so tell grand ma / that I will write to her in a few days tell Faney and beckey and Jimey and all the rest of the connection that I would be glad to get a letter from any of them and I am anxious to hear from any of you I saw will a few days ago he was well and fat he told me to send you all his love and best respects so I will close for this time hopeing to hear from you soon I still remain your affectionate
