your favor dated May first was received this morning and I now seat myself to reply
I am very happy to know you are enjoying yourself so well but Mollie I must say that your acknowledgement of being a Rebble has caused me to feel very unhapy I would mutch rather heard of the deth of my nearest and dearest friend but as I cannot have my choice in this I must be content Now Mollie if you was in earnest in what you sayed please tell me as if you are growing tired of vows made to me in times gone by let me know it and will release you for I have said I would labor to promote your hapiness and I repeat it. no mater what sorrow it cause me. I expect to be at by the fourth of july next then by your permition I will visit you again. I wrote to you a fiew days ago and told you all the news and what I thought of the Confederate cause now if I have been to rash I beg pardon but donot think I have for you know I am a Soldier in the Army with this I close
