Dearest Mollie
your kind favor of the 20th came this evening and I will write you a short note now while the forces are halting to feed them selves and horses we started from camp last night at three and at day light was in sight of the mountains we then came to this place to get breakfast we have been troubled by the rebs for some time and the Col says he is tired of it so we are hunting them while the hundred day men hold our posts on the railroad by the way these men are good soldiers so far as they go /
Mollie I am vary happy to know your health is improving for I can not be happy knowing you are not well and happy you spoke of Miss D. well I must admit that I paid my regards to her for a short time but the idea of me marrying her is most absurd of anything I ever heard she never thought of sutch a thing and I most shurely did not.
Now Mollie I hope you will not doubt my vows for if ever the truth was spoken by man which I know or blieve has been but this I do know that Webb Ellis will be true to his love untill death Mollie I have been in a vary big hurry for fear of the troop starting but the Col says we will stay here all / day so I will not close yet bu he says I am not allowed to write Love letters while on a scout but I guess I will do as I please the Col says for me to his regards to you
I got a letter from Lide yesterday and answered it the same day
Sergt Sheets says he will exchang photos with vary willing bu he has not got any just now but I have one of his I will give back and wait untill he gets some more
Now Dear Mollie I will soon bring my letter for fear of tireing you with reading it
Good By Ever your
true Lover Webb
