wonce more take the oportunity to rite you a fu lines to let you no that I am well at presant hopinge these fu lines may finde you well when they Come to hande we was in a fite at Jackson Miss the 16 of this month Our Captin was killed instantly he was shot through the Brest with a piece of a shell and wone man Badly wounded in the face the knight of the 16 the rebeles avacuated Jackson I thinke the ware will Be played out By next springe /
Miram I would have riten to you Before now But I have riten to you since you have riten to me I am sorow to heare the Death of Henry that is a det we all have to pay sooner or lator he Diede in a Goode case in the defence of his Country Which a Grate maney of our friendes has done you must do the Best you Can and keepe in Goode spirites
